Reader Edrick Elliott proprietor of Fingymoto Blog sends in a racebike pic that is pure lust. Yikes what a machine. Those Irish racers have some big onions. Would love to go over some day.
Edrick Writes:
This is a picture that i took last year at a roadrace in Walderstown which is near Athlone more or less the middle of Ireland, the race bike belongs to William Dunlop maybe the best 250 racer around at the moment on the Irish road race scene although I think his brother Micheal might take issue with me on that claim, these two lads are the sons of another great two stroke racer the mighty micro Robert Dunlop brother of the great racer Joey Dunlop all two stroke specialists ,sadly the race where i took the picture had to be cancelled due to the death of a racer in warm up this is a harsh reality of the road racing scene in Ireland where each season we loose super riders, anyways enjoy the picture and checkout my blog http://fingymoto.blogspot.com/ I enjoy your blogs especially the two stroke one because that is where my heart lies.
Regards, Edrick
Thank you much Sir!

Stunner of a Husqvarna Desert Racer
Bob Close from the Penton Owners Group sent me a link recently to a site I'd never heard of called huskyrestoration.com and some pics of this amazing Husqvarna Baha Racer. Please do yourself a favor and click the link over to this fantastic site and check see all the pictures and read the story of this bike. This isn't a trailer queen. It's going to be raced in the 2010 Baha 500. And while you're over there please check out all their restoration projects. Really really amazing stuff. If you're a fan of these old dirtbikes (or just curious) you should defilnately pay a visit to the Gents over on the Penton Owners Group. I sneak over there and peek in on them every once in a while and I'm definately getting the bug.
Thanks again for the link Bob. Much appreciated.

Stunning Reader Ride. Suzuki GT550 Cafe Racer
Thomas Leeming from Montana recently sent me this excellent Suzuki GT550 cafe racer / former racebike. I told him that I've always been a Yamaha RD400 and Kawasaki Triple fan but this Suzuki could definately sway me. Jush gorgeous.
Thomas Writes:
Thanks for the great web site. I recently completed this 1975 Suzuki GT550 cafe. Pipes by Omar's. Electronic ignition. Battery, oil tank and electrics are hidden under the seat cowl. The older photo is from 1974 at Louden NH when I roadraced a GT550.
Thanks Very Much for the pics Thomas. Very Much Appreciated!

Great Montessa "Before and After" Reader Ride with video!
Just a fantastic save of a really cool Montessa up in Massachusetts
Steve C. Writes:
Steve C. Writes:
Hello,
Great site/blog! Have a couple of bikes you might like.
I found this Montesa on Craigslist in the Summer of 2006 – it’s a Scorpion 250, probably sold in 1968 or 1969. Looked pretty rough in the pic the seller sent to me – see below – so my original thought was that I'd part it out on eBay. I knew the front wheel alone was worth a few hundred bucks (more than I paid for the bike). It's a sought-after twin-leading shoe drum with air scoop that was also used on the Montesa Impala (street bike) and LaCross (real motocrosser). But once I saw that the bike was nearly complete, I figured I'd see what it took to get running. So cleaned it up, painted the frame, straightened the front fender (yes, that’s it on the seat in the “before” pic), fabbed a seat strap, added a new chain, OEM rear brake pedal and shift lever, kickstart spring, rear brake light switch, taillight bracket, handlebars, points, condensor and plug. That's about it. The rest was original -- paint on tank, fender and headlight, grips, levers for the clutch, front brake and choke, even the footpeg rubbers, tires and that funky red leather thumb guard on the throttle.

A 2-stroke Racebike Fest From Daytona....
I've been neglecting the 2-stroke side of things a bit lately. The other blog has kind of exploded a bit but that's no excuse. Here's a nice little racebike post from the Daytona Pits to help make up for it. Enjoy!

Megasquirted RZ350 engine...
Travis sends in these pics of an RZ350 engine "work in progress" being converted to fuel injection.
Travis writes:
I found these pictures this morning on the perthstreetbikes.com forum. All I know about them is what was in the description on the thread. The builder is a guy named Frostie from Lund Sweden. He says the injector bodies are two out of three from a Triumph 955 with an inside diameter of 43mm. He's planning on using a MicroSquirt injection controller box from MegaSquirt because it includes a programmable ignition system as well. He did the fab work and built the cross over boost tube with angled riser blocks to help direct intake flow to the bottom end.
All I have to say is I really need one of these setups! Its a shame that Yamaha didn't come up with something like this back in 1985, we might have still had factory built road going two-stroke replica racers well into the 90's here in the USA.
Later Travis
I hear ya Travis! Oh what might have been!

Don Miller of Metro Racings christens the new Daytona Flat Track on his beautiful Bultaco!
2 Stroke makes history at the new Daytona Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Due to the rain out on Saturday, the AMA's new Vintage Dirt Track series was the first ones up to race at the new facility. AMA race director bestowed the honor of the AMA's newly appointed Technical Advisor Don Miller and his trusty Bultaco to be the first one out to christen the track. "It was the coolest thing ever. We're here re-creating history, while making history all at once." Miller said.
